Mattering and Adapting to Life Challenges: How to Build Those Bridges Over Troubled Water (Prof. Gordon Flett, Canada Research Chair in Personality & Health, York University) - Monday, March 22, 2021

Professor Flett will address the need to matter to other people. Mattering is described as a fundamental relational resource that contributes to adaptability and resilience and is a pathway to key life outcomes (e.g., achievement, physical health, well-being). The power of mattering will be illustrated in research on youth and emerging adults, but discussion will examine actionable messages and ways to promote mattering in various contexts that can be taken up by people of all ages.

Mental Health in the Human Services Sector (Prof. Nazilla Khanlou, York University) - Monday, March 1, 2021

COVID-19 has placed a strain on the human services sector, with increased demands and challenges with doing business differently. Frontline workers are facing increased strains to support clients while maintaining their own health and wellness. Prof. Kahnlou will address issues of mental health for frontline workers.
